3MAW: Collin Klein adds key piece to coaching staff
John Kurtz, Cole Manbeck and Derek Young react to K-State hiring a new offensive coordinator and what it means.
New Kansas State head coach Collin Klein has been busy building his roster out following the departure of Chris Kleiman, but he has also been working tirelessly to create a strong coaching staff.
Monday morning, it was announced that he is plucking an offensive mind from the state next door. Former Missouri quarterbacks coach Sean Gleason will spearhead the Wildcats offense, alongside Klein.
Gleason spent the past two years with the Tigers, coaching up Brady Cook, Beau Pribula, and true freshman Matt Zollers. In 2024, he helped guide Cook and Mizzou to a 10-3 record, producing one of the more efficient offenses in the country across key metrics, including interceptions, red zone offense, and third-down conversion rate.
Gleason, a 19-year coaching veteran, was previously an offensive coordinator at Princeton, Oklahoma State, and Rutgers, before also serving a season as a senior offensive analyst at Northwestern. In his one season as the Cowboys’ offensive coordinator, they posted a top-25 offense, averaging over 453 yards per game, the same season running back Chubba Hubbard led the nation in rushing with 2,094 yards.
The guys discussed everything it means for the Wildcats’ offense, plus some additional updates on the transfer portal before it closes on Jan 16.
