5 NFL Draft Prospects To Keep an Eye on at the NFL Combine
These 5 players are worth keeping an eye on for Chiefs' fans as the NFL Combine kicks off
The NFL Combine is slated to start this Thursday - or at least that is the first day of on-field testing - and serves as the official start of the Draft Season. As of late, the Chiefs had been coming off of Super Bowl victories making this time of the season more enjoyable and a pathway to continue their hold over the NFL. This year however, they are facing a massive off-season to try and correct some of the flaws that popped up throughout the season and that starts with the NFL Draft.
It’s important not to overreact to the “Underwear Olympics” as no amount of athletic testing will replace on field production. That doesn’t mean there is nothing to glean from this process whether it’s size confirmation, medical checks, or yes a player’s athleticism showing off in a way that was unexpected. With that in mind, let’s take a look at 5 players that Chiefs’ fans should keep a keen eye on during this year’s NFL Draft Combine.
Prospects To Watch at the Combine
Josh Simmons
OT | Ohio State
Josh Simmons actually won’t be on the field for any of the testing during the NFL Combine but that doesn’t matter. The big thing to be on the look out for with him is the medical reports coming out of Indianapolis. Simmons suffered what has been reported as a “patellar injury” but the specifics and severity hasn’t been disclosed.
The Chiefs are desperate for improvement at the LT position and for a long term solution. A healthy Simmons certainly would provide that as he’d be in contention for the top OT in this entire draft class. If the Chiefs’ feel comfortable with his current health situation, he could strongly be in consideration for a trade-up if he slides a little in the draft.
