AFC West Draft Roundup
Checking in with the Chiefs rivals on their draft classes.
As I said last week, the NFL draft has come and gone. The Chiefs have 7 shiny new rookies they drafted, and a bunch more undrafted free agents. Veach did a solid job this draft of finding solid value without any major reaches, and I am excited about seeing what this draft class can show us in the next couple of years.
However, the Chiefs are not the only team that has a new draft class coming in this year. All three of the other AFC West teams also drafted several players, and I wanted to do a quick roundup of their draft classes this week. It’s always a good idea to keep an eye on the enemy, after all.
As you may recall, only the Raiders ended the season with a worse record than the Chiefs. They ended up with a record of 3-14 and the first overall pick in the draft. The Chargers ended up with an 11-6 record, and a wild card loss to the Patriots. The Broncos sported a beautiful 14-3 record and the #1 seed in the AFC. They beat the Bills in the Divisional Round, but QB Bo Nix broke his ankle at the very end of that game, and the Broncos ended up losing to the Patriots in the AFC Championship game.
