There are a lot of great stories coming out of Super Bowl LVII, but Andy Reid isn’t having much of one of them. This Super Bowl has been dubbed “The Andy Reid Bowl” by many because his current team is set to face his former team.
He kicked off his career as head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and he still clearly has plenty of love for the organization.
“Listen, it’s a great organization,” Reid said of the Eagles on Super Bowl opening night. “I had 14 years there. I loved every minute of it. I’ve had 10 years in Kansas City. I loved every minute of that. I’m proud of some of these old guys with the Eagles. I’m proud of my guys with the Chiefs. Let’s go.”
Asked whether he can appreciate the irony of facing his former team in the Super Bowl, Reid said he could. At the same time, he doesn’t believe it will have any impact on the way his team prepares or plays the game.
“Yeah, I mean, I guess initially you feel that or sense that or see it,” Reid said. “You’re living it. I think it’s a great for the Eagles. I think it’s great for the Chiefs to be in this position. Once you get through all of that, now it’s the teams playing each other. It doesn’t really matter the uniform. Once the game gets going it’s football, who has got the better team, better players, better coaches and who gets a break here and there? All those things that normally happen in a football game kind of takes place. So, you kind of blank the other stuff out. Not too worried about that. You don’t let it get in the way of your preparation. You try to maximize your preparation.”
Ultimately, in Reid’s eyes, the “Andy Reid Bowl” is nothing more than a headline for members of the media. What happens between the chalk will tell the tale of Super Bowl LVII.
“It’s a great storyline for you guys,” Reid said. “The Kelce Brothers will give you more.”

KCSN’s BJ Kissel sits down with The Athletic's Nate Taylor to ask him his 5 Burning Questions ahead of the Kansas City Chiefs meeting with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
Quotable:
“Yeah, about every play he makes. He’s obviously very special. (A) special football player, (a) special playmaker. He does things that you watch and you go — you just kind of shake your head because of how special he is. And so we’re gonna have to be on (top of) it and have everything we got to contain him because we know how good of a football player he is.” - Eagles HC Nick Sirianni on what makes Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes special
It’s really hard to put it in words. I keep saying that because the last time I won that game, I didn’t play in (the Super Bowl). So it was like, I tried to get back (to it). Then last year we came up short and then this year we finally got over that hump and won. You know, just to be on that stage and confetti’s coming down, it’s a moment that I’ll remember for the rest of my life, for sure. - Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon on what it means to make it to the Super Bowl
