Following a dramatic walk-off win on Sunday, the Kansas City Royals carried their momentum out West, securing a gritty 4-1 victory over the Sacramento A’s in 10 innings.
It was a lower-scoring affair that required contributions from both the pitching staff and clutch offensive moments to secure Kansas City’s fourth consecutive win.
Bobby Witt Jr. provided the decisive blow in the top of the 10th inning, launching a 389-foot, three-run home run to right-center field, breaking a 1-1 tie. Salvador Perez also added his power, hitting a solo home run earlier in the game. Kris Bubic allowed just one run over five innings, though his three walks continue a season-long trend for the staff.
The bullpen was exceptional in relief. John Schreiber, Daniel Lynch, Matt Strahm, and Nick Mears combined for four scoreless innings, holding the lead and sending the game into extras. Despite facing a bases-loaded jam in the bottom of the 10th, Lucas Erceg locked down the victory.
