Chief Challengers: Ravens
The Ravens built a championship roster, but January remains their kryptonite.
The Baltimore Ravens once again failed to earn the right to play the Kansas City Chiefs for supremacy of the AFC. They fell to the Bills in the divisional round. Surprisingly, the Ravens have only faced the Chiefs in the playoffs once in the Lamar Jackson era (2023). In that time, they have lost to the Chargers, Titans, Bills, Bengals, Chiefs, and then the Bills again last year.
This is a huge contrast to the Bills, who have lost to the Chiefs four times in the Josh Allen era. For being recognized as the “best” team in the AFC by most talking heads, they have really struggled to accomplish anything in the postseason. They have only reached the AFC Championship game once, in the 2023 playoffs against the Chiefs. In a similar manner to the Chargers always “winning” the offseason, the Ravens are always “winning” the regular season. They look like a juggernaut, until they don’t.
