The Chiefs have a tremendous record of success against the Las Vegas Raiders, with a 15-3 record against them since 2013. Last year alone, Kansas City outscored their rival 89-23 in the two games they played against them. No matter the recent history between the two teams, Chiefs HC Andy Reid isn’t allowing his team to overlook this AFC West foe.
"We look forward to the challenge of playing the Raiders,” Reid said on Thursday. “They’re a good football team. The games that they didn’t win, it was a one-score game, so we understand how good they are. We understand they were up by 20 points in the second half against Arizona.”
Reid is honed in on making sure that his guys are focused and ready. He saw what a lapse in preparedness can do to this team back in Week 3 against the Colts. He’s out to ensure that this week of practice has the entire team prepared for the challenge that lies ahead.
“We’ve got to have a good week of practice,” Reid explained. “Anything less than that is unacceptable. They understand that there is a rivalry between the teams and that it’s always a great battle. We look forward to bringing the (Raiders) here to Arrowhead and playing good football.”

KCSN Update:
KCSN’s Tucker Franklin sits down with Raiders senior writer Eddie Paskal to get the five things he's watching for in the Kansas City Chiefs Monday Night Football showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders.
Quotable:
“Well they always have a good fight, they went to college together (Eastern Michigan) and so there’s that part of it and I think they probably both like playing against each other because they just kind of beat the dog out of each other. Seems like it’s quite a competition and so I would just tell you that. I mean Crosby’s gotten him a few times, he’s got Crosby a few times, that’s how it works.” - Andy Reid on matchup between Andrew Wylie and Maxx Crosby
“Yeah, whenever you have a good, balanced offense it’s hard for defenses to predict what you’re doing. I think you saw that with whenever we ran the ball well, defenses had to start coming up a little bit, change their coverages that they wanted to play, bring some pressures. And when they did, we were able to execute with the pass game. And kind of vice-versa whenever we’re passing the ball well, I feel like defenses have to back up and then we can run the ball. In order to be a great offense, I think you have to have that balance. And whenever defenses are trying to take one of them away, we’re able to do the other.” - Patrick Mahomes on run/pass balance in the offense
