Chiefs bring back Derrick Nnadi in trade with Jets
Nnadi is a member of three Super Bowl-winning teams
The Chiefs on Sunday made a move to bolster the defensive line and it involved a player the team knows well.
The Chiefs traded for defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi from the New York Jets, a transaction involving the teams swapping conditional 2027 sixth- and seventh-round picks, a source familiar with the transaction confirmed with KC Sports Network.
ESPN first reported the news.
Nnadi, 29, returns to Kansas City less than six months after signing a one-year deal with the Jets during free agency.
The 6-foot-1, 317-pound Nnadi originally joined the Chiefs in 2018 as a third-round pick out of Florida State. He’s appeared in 115 career games with 87 starts for Kansas City over the past seven seasons and is a member of three Super Bowl-winning teams.
The addition of Nnadi provides immediate depth.
He rejoins defensive tackles Chris Jones and Mike Pennel as a player with starting experience in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo’s scheme.
Nnadi further provides insurance if rookie defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott’s ankle injury lingers into the regular season.
Norman-Lott, the Chiefs’ second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, originally suffered the ankle injury during training camp, and then aggravated it in the second preseason game. Norman-Lott did not play in the preseason finale.
I hope this doesn’t signal a PUP or IR for Norman-Lott. Just saying.
