Chiefs rookie cornerbacks Kevin Knowles and Melvin Smith did their part to earn their respective spots on the practice squad after training camp and preseason action.

While they didn’t make the initial 53-player roster, the Chiefs saw enough in Knowles and Smith to bring them back to continue development.

The duo’s presence in the building and practice field represents just another step of their professional journey.

STUDYING PAYS OFF FOR KNOWLES

The 5-foot-11, 190-pound Knowles joined the Chiefs in May as an undrafted free agent out of Florida State.

His opportunity to shine in a Chiefs uniform arrived early in the fourth quarter of the final preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
