Chiefs say they're 'aware' of domestic violence allegations from ex-girlfriend of Rashee Rice
Chiefs are in communication with the NFL
The Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday evening acknowledging awareness of wide receiver Rashee Rice’s ex-girlfriend, Dacoda Jones, alleging abuse from an unnamed party in an Instagram post.
“The club is aware of the allegations on social media and is in communication with the National Football League,” a team spokesman said in a statement. “We have no further comment at this time.”
Much like Jones’ social media post, the Chiefs did not mention Rice by name.
Jones’ post alleging domestic violence appeared early Wednesday afternoon, and it quickly gained traction across multiple social media platforms.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image,” Jones wrote at the beginning of her Instagram post without naming the alleged abuser. “I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.”
Jones included a series of 14 photos in the published post.
Some of the photos were graphic and displayed what appeared to be bruises and scratches to Jones’ body, including facial injuries. There were also photos showing damage to property.
The Instagram post has more than 8,000 likes and 1,600 comments as of late Thursday morning.
While Jones’ Instagram account does not carry a verified blue check mark, there is a photo of Jones and Rice on the sidelines at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium, dated Oct. 8, 2024.
Jones hasn’t filed a police report as of Wednesday night, according to ESPN.
Rice comes off a 2025 season where he served a six-game suspension.
The suspension stemmed from Rice’s involvement in a 2024 multi-vehicle crash incident in Texas, an event that left multiple people injured. Rice was sentenced in July 2025 to 30 days in jail and five years’ probation for his involvement.
He finished the 2025 season appearing in eight games, totaling 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns. He added 20 yards rushing and a touchdown on five carries.
Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the second round of the 2023 NFL Draft, is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract.
