One On One - Tony Richardson Talks Leadership, Coaching, and Favorite Chiefs Memories
Former Kansas City Chiefs defensive lineman Mike DeVito sits down with former Chiefs running back Tony Richardson to talk about their playing days, what he's up to now, how the current team looks, and share their favorite memories as Chiefs.
Players to watch in Week 12:
S Bryan Cook: With Juan Thornhill injured, the rookie safety is trending toward his first career start in Week 12. Cook did some good things filling in for Thornhill just a week ago, but as Steve Spagnuolo suggested on Tuesday, he’ll have a better chance at making an impact with a full week of starting repetitions at practice. If Cook plays at a high level it’s possible that we see him as the starter opposite Reid for the remainder of the season.
WR JuJu Smith-Schuster: After a very scary hit against the Jacksonville Jaguars left him concussed, Smith-Schuster is out of the league’s concussion protocol and will be available to play in Week 12. How much action will he get in his first game back on the gridiron? I’d expect the Chiefs to give him a moderate workload given the performance of the team’s depth against the Chargers a week ago.
RG Trey Smith: One of the biggest stressors when facing the Rams is figuring out how to contain their star defensive tackle, Aaron Donald. Smith will be one of the players tasked with matching up against him, even left one-on-one with Donald at times. Smith says the key when going against Donald is to be “technically sound.” No matter how sound he is, this is going to be a back-and-forth heavyweight fight for the ages.
DT Chris Jones: The Rams could be trotting out their 11th offensive line combination of the season. They’ll be without starting center Brian Allen and their backup center Matt Skura is questionable heading into the game. Jones has the ninth-most pressures in the NFL this season and nine sacks on the year. This could be a game where he takes over and makes life very difficult for the opposing offense.
KCSN Update:
KCSN’s BJ Kissel sits down with Pro Football Focus' Trevor Sikkema to get his three key matchups before the Kansas City Chiefs' meeting with the Los Angeles Rams.
Quotable:
“Yeah, well he’s a good player if that’s the direction they end up having to go. So, we respect that. We’ve had a chance to see him play and he’s very fast – I think which we know. And he’s got a good arm, so we’re prepared for that, if that’s the case, the best we could.” - Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Rams backup QB Bryce Perkins
“No, he had had it in New York, and he just felt it kind of coming back, and so we just said, ‘Listen, let’s not go any further with it and make it more serious.’ So, we backed off on it.” - Chiefs HC Andy Reid on WR Kadarius Toney’s injury
Quick Hits:
From CBS Sports: The Chiefs aren’t out of the race for free agent WR Odell Beckham Jr. quite yet, but things are looking rather bleak. While he’s still having “conversations” with Kansas City per Josina Anderson, he already has visits scheduled with three other teams.

From the Mahomes household: Patrick Mahomes said ahead of Thanksgiving that his chef was preparing Turducken for the holiday in honor of John Madden. Mahomes gave an update on the Turducken on Twitter on Thursday night.
From the Kelce family: Some Chiefs-adjacent news. Travis Kelce’s brother Jason Kelce and his offensive line teammates on the Philadelphia Eagles recorded a Christmas album. The first single from the album dropped today and it is fantastic.
