DT Omarr Norman-Lott ready to be 'hell of a player for Chiefs Kingdom'
Chiefs used a second-round pick on Norman-Lott
Kansas City needed to address defense on Day 2 of the 2025 NFL Draft and didn’t waste time late in Round 2.
The Chiefs took care of a position of need by selecting Tennessee defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (63rd overall) of the 2025 NFL Draft.
Consider Norman-Lott as an excited new member of the team.
“I’m so happy,” Norman-Lott said in a Zoom teleconference. “I’m so ready to get in the system and learn the system and just be a hell of a player for Chiefs Kingdom.”
The Chiefs got themselves an experienced and proven producer with the pick.
And the team became familiar with their newest interior defensive lineman throughout the predraft process, even hosting him on a Top 30 visit.
“We had a lot of contact,” Norman-Lott said. “I had a Top 30 visit – that was incredible – and we also did a Zoom. … I’m just so happy to be a Chief.”
Norman-Lott, who measures 6-foot-2, 291 pounds, spent three seasons with Arizona State (2020-22) before transferring to Tennessee (2023-24).
He’s appeared in 44 combined college games between Arizona State and Tennessee, totaling 89 tackles (47 solo) and 13.5 sacks.
Norman-Lott’s best two college seasons came with Tennessee, as he notched 9.5 total sacks and 19 tackles for a loss.
The Chiefs needed to add a young defensive tackle after losing Tershawn Wharton to free agency.
Additionally, drafting a young player took importance when considering All-Pro Chris Jones turns 31 on July 3. Defensive tackles Mike Pennel, who turns 34 in May, and Jerry Tillery, who turns 29 in October, are on one-year contracts.
The Chiefs checked the box by drafting Norman-Lott, and he’s primed to contribute in whatever role defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo decides.
“I’m a player, I’m going to get in where I fit in and I’m going to do what the coaches ask of me,” Norman-Lott said. “So, whatever system we have built in already with Chiefs Kingdom, I’m going to adhere to that and we’re going to get it done however it needs to be done.”
