The NFLverse just got a new dataset from FTN Data, and I am loving life playing with it. Very little gets me as excited as new NFL data to play with! Especially when that data includes manual charting. You can expect to see a lot of FTN Data in my visualizations this year, as I work to incorporate it into my normal barrage of graphics.

This week’s article is going to look at two completely different items that FTN tracks. The first graphic takes a look at how good QBs are when they leave the pocket, but still throw the ball. This would include designed rollouts as well as broken plays where the QB is forced to leave the pocket by pressure (real or imagined). It does not include plays where the QB ran with the ball, only plays where he was outside the pocket and threw it or was sacked.
