The NFL Draft draws ever closer, and as it nears, we have to get to know these prospects who could wind up on the Chiefs. With the Chiefs picking in the top ten for the first time in a decade, it makes it easier to pinpoint a smaller pool of players they could be interested in, thus leading to this Film Room series to get to know some of these options.

For those unfamiliar, I try to do a Film Room series on video for the KCSN Discord (if you have subscribed to this Newsletter, you should have an invite link to the Discord in the welcome e-mail) every week. So far, we have covered the majority of the EDGE prospects expected to go in the top 100, and we are now starting some wide receivers.

Last week, we started our Film Room series with a breakdown of wide receiver Jordyn Tyson. This week, we are going to stick to that same position group and look at the consensus number one overall wide receiver, Carnell Tate out of Ohio State. Unfortunately, the Film Room recording got incredibly grainy when getting processed on YouTube, so it can’t go into the top of the article. There will be a link at the bottom of this newsletter that links to the full Tate Film Room, plus a breakdown of Omar Cooper Jr. out of Indiana, but we can still break Tate down without it!

The KCSN Draft Guide is available for pre-order! A Chiefs-specific book with detailed analysis, profiles of hundreds of prospects, player comps, a Chiefs draft pick trade chart, scheme fit analysis, and more! The book release April 6th!

Strengths:

  • Vertical Route Running: Carnell Tate’s singular driving trait is his ability to win vertically. The key component is that he does it in a variety of ways. He has built up speed that allows him to out-stride coverage, he has elite nuance in his vertical route stem, he is fluid when attacking outside/inside leverage, and he can box defenders out downfield and attack the ball.
