Less than a month remains until we will get a chance to see the Kansas City Chiefs begin their 2025 campaign under the hot sun in St. Joseph, Missouri.

They will be skipping the early arrivals for quarterbacks and rookies, and taking off with full team camp beginning July 22nd. There are a few things remaining for the team to do (or not do) before camp begins.

Star guard Trey Smith is still awaiting a new deal from the team after they placed the franchise tag on him shortly before free agency began. The rookie draft class in its entirety has not just been signed.

The roster is good. The team has the fourth best odds to win the Super Bowl. That doesn’t mean there aren’t areas of the team that could use some improvements.

From the inside, the Chiefs know who they want to give opportunities to step up and fill roles, and certainly some of their own deficiencies. A player like safety Jaden Hicks has been given a golden opportunity to play a huge role in the defense with the Chiefs letting Justin Reid walk and not doing much of anything to replace him.

From the outside, some questions remain about the roster. And while no July free agent signing is likely to put a team over the top (and questions exist with why a player is available in the first place), they could help the team answer some questions before games begin.

Here are five free agents that could improve position groups for the Chiefs in the 2025 season.
