Let’s get this out of the away before anyone misconstrues anything that will be said in the remainder of this article: Patrick Mahomes is a not a “game manager” in any sense of the word.

That phrase comes with a lot of often negative connotations about the ability of a quarterback. That style is viewed as a risk averse player who will help a team win a game, but not aggressive enough to make big plays to win his team a game.

Game managers are incapable of making some of the remarkable plays we saw Mahomes make in the two early touchdown drives the Chiefs put together — and ultimately was the difference in their advancement to the Super Bowl.
