Injury bug hits Chiefs in penultimate practice | KCSN Daily 8.17
Mecole Hardman update, plus quotes and a social media roundup.

Wednesday marked the second-to-last training camp practice of the season for the Chiefs and the last padded day of practice. To this point, the team had done a good job avoiding the training camp injury bug, but it finally caught up to them. Both Chris Jones and Mecole Hardman left practice early with injuries.
Prior to exiting practice, Hardman was having one of his best days yet. He scored in one-on-one drills against rookie CB Trent McDuffie. He also scored multiple touchdowns during the team’s 11-on-11 red zone work, which was also the drill he suffered his injury during. It’s clear that the Chiefs have big plans for Hardman this season, but will the injury interfere with those plans? Hardman has an MRI scheduled to determine the extent of his groin injury, with those in Kansas City hopeful it’s no more than a Grade 1 strain.

Quotable:
“I’m starting to see some growth in a lot of different positions, a lot of different areas. You’re starting to see guys — the light bulbs are turning on. Certain words are meaning something to them. They’re starting to understand the fundamentals, the technique that we’re teaching. So, it has been fun to watch. Now, has it been perfect? No, it hasn’t been perfect. But that’s the beauty of training camp. These guys are working hard. They’re accepting coaching, our coaches are doing a hell of a job and those guys are going out there and performing.” - Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy on the growth happening at training camp
I see that they’re hungry. They want to be succesful. I call Trent (McDuffie) like the little Steph Curry. Like he’s a swift little guy, you know? He can do it all, from the inside, from the outside. But I see that all of them have potential. - Chiefs CB L’Jarius Sneed on the team’s young cornerbacks
