It may be cliche, but Veach can draft "BPA" in Chiefs upcoming draft
After a well-rounded offseason, Brett Veach and company can rely on their big board in this month's NFL Draft.
Up next here at KCSN.com, we will be doing full position-by-position breakdowns of the state of the Chiefs' current roster, which stands at 73 players on the 90-man, according to OverTheCap.com, not including the reporting of yesterday's signing of safety Mike Edwards. With that signing and others, Kansas City can now head full steam into the draft, which takes place in about three weeks, with a “best player available” approach.
The offseason has gone according to Brett Veach’s plan, I assume, because after losing some key free agents such as safety Justin Reid and Tershawn Wharton and then trading all-pro left guard Joe Thuney, all the Chiefs have done is fill those spots, and then some. It is as well of a designed offseason as you could dream of for Chiefs Kingdom, considering they have expensive players on their roster, did not have an influx of cap space and have gone to three straight Super Bowls.
Thuney, arguably the biggest loss, was replaced in part by left tackle Jaylon Moore, who is largely unknown, but showed upside in his 12 games of action as Trent Williams' backup in San Francisco throughout the four years of his rookie deal. Thuney notably and admirably filled in at left tackle after a year of turmoil at the position, but not only did they replace him with Moore, but they replaced his former left guard spot, a spot that was filled by former undrafted free agent guard Mike Caliendo down the stretch run, with 2024 second round pick Kingsley Suamataia.
