The bar to clear for a fourth round pick to become a successful pick isn’t high. A player finding a way to stay on the active roster through the length of their rookie contract, contributing on special teams, and playing a minor role on your side of the ball can justify the selection.

When looking at what Washington State safety Jaden Hicks put on tape his final year of college, it’s hard not to believe that he’ll be capable of achieving the value of where he was selected at 133 — near the end of the fourth round.

Hicks is safety that was asked to do a lot for the Cougars. He lined up all over the field, playing as a post safety, split field, in the box, as an overhang defender, in the gaps as a blitzer. He was aligning everywhere.
