NFL suspends Chiefs DE Frank Clark for 2 games | KCSN Daily 10.25
Plus KCSN podcasts, transactions and more Chiefs news.
Welcome back to the latest issue of KCSN Daily, where we deliver the best Kansas City Chiefs content.
The NFL announced that they’ve issued a two-game suspension for Chiefs DE Frank Clark for a violation of the league’s personal conduct policy. The violation stems from two off-season arrests on weapons charges in March and June of 2021 in Clark’s hometown of Los Angeles.
With Kansas City on the bye week, Clark’s suspension will begin in Week 9. He’ll miss games against the Tennessee Titans and Jacksonville Jaguars. He’ll be eligible to make his return in Week 11 for the team’s second matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.
It’s unfortunate timing for Clark, who is coming off his best game of the season. In Week 7, Clark recorded two total tackles, a tackle for loss, 1.5 sacks and a safety against the San Franciso 49ers in the team’s 44-23 win.
With Clark out for the next two games, look for the Chiefs to potentially make an addition along the defensive line via free agency or a trade ahead of the upcoming deadline.

Titans poach WR Chris Conley from Chiefs’ practice squad:
A day after practice squad WR Daurice Fountain requested his release from the practice squad, the team has now lost a second practice squad receiver. According to the NFL’s official personnel notice, the Tennessee Titans have signed WR Chris Conley to their 53-man roster from the Chiefs’ practice squad. A former third-round draft pick by K.C. in 2015, Conley had just recently re-signed with the Chiefs after he was released by the Houston Texans in early October. Per NFL rules, the Titans will be required to keep Conley on their 53-man roster through Week 10. That means, he’ll be on their team for the Week 9 game between Tennessee and Kansas City.

Quotable:
“Yeah, that again, that's a great learning experience for [Kansas City Chiefs WR] Skyy [Moore] on that. So Sky's got a wraparound route right there and we try to put everybody inside outside, so you got to kind of work into that spot and know how to do it. And he got a little too high and Pat, trust him. That was the positive part. So next time around we'll, we'll knock that thing out. And they talked through it and that was a good thing. So, good learning experience.” - Andy Reid on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ Week 7 interception
“It's kind of disappointing. I'm not worried about former team or not, I'm just worried about this team right now. This is where I'm at, this is who believes in me, this is who signed me, this was a nice deal. We'll bounce back. We just got to bounce back next week against the Rams. Chiefs, they won the game congratulations to them, but hopefully we see them again later on down the line.” - 49ers CB Charvarius Ward on losing to the Chiefs
Quick Hits:
From PFF: Move over Aaron Donald, there’s a new sheriff in town. Through the first seven weeks of the 2022 NFL season, no defensive player has a higher grade than Chiefs DT Chris Jones.
From QB1: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes shared a quick sizzle reel from the Week 7 game against the San Francisco 49ers.
A gift from Frank Clark: The suspension of Chiefs DE Frank Clark will actually provide a little gift. Chiefs Digest’s Matt Derrick reports that Clark will be docked two game checks during his suspension, providing additional salary cap relief for Kansas City. This could come into play at the trade deadline or if the team signs another player to the 53-man roster.
