Pay Heed: Kansas takes down No. 2 in the country

After falling to 0-2 to start Big 12 play, Kansas basketball made a statement as home underdogs against Iowa State.
The Jayhawks beat the 16-0 Cyclones in resounding fashion, too. In a much-needed win, KU defeated the No. 2 team in the country 84-63.
It was an all-around team win from Kansas, who had seven different players score at least eight points. Senior Tre White led the way, leading the team in scoring and rebounds with 19 and 10, respectively.
Jamari McDowell played a key role off the bench, tallying eight points and leading the team in assists, with six. Melvin Council Jr. and star freshman Darryn Peterson combined for 31 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists as well.
Kansas took the lead 15 seconds into the game and never looked back. They led by as much as 26 in a game where they shot better from the field, from three, and from the free-throw line, by a wide margin.
