The Chiefs are officially in the playoffs. With a last-second win over the Las Vegas Raiders, the Chiefs punched their ticket to January. Not that there was any doubt before, but it is nice to have it be official. While it seems incredibly normal and hum-drum right now, that is actually an incredible feat. This will make the 10th straight year that the Chiefs have played in the playoffs. Only the 2009-2019 Patriots have had a longer streak, with 11 straight years.

The game itself ended in perhaps the most bizarre fashion I’ve ever seen. The Raiders, down two points, had driven down into field goal range with 15 seconds left in the game. Their center snapped the ball early, leading to a fumble which the Chiefs recovered. There was a flag on the play, which everyone believed would be false start, backing the Raiders up 5 yards, but giving them back possession, and the ability to try a field goal.

Unfortunately for the Raiders, because it was a stopped clock due to the spike on the previous play, and no one on the Raiders offense was set at the time of the snap, the penalty was actually called an Illegal Shift instead, which meant the Chiefs recovery was upheld and they were able to kneel it out for their 11th win, and 10th straight playoff berth.
