Predicting the remainder of the Chiefs' season: what seed (if any) will they get in the playoffs?

It will never be lost on me how lucky I am to have the opportunity to write and talk about my favorite football team. This has been a wild journey for myself and many others at KC Sports Network, and none of it is possible without the incredible support we receive from all of you.

This Thanksgiving, I’m grateful for all of you who have listened, watched, read, subscribed, shown up to events, or donated to the KCSN Foundation. Thank you all so much.

This has been an up-and-down season compared to others we’ve seen during the greatest stretch in Chiefs’ history. The amount of “we’re back” and “it’s over” that we’ve seen from week to week has created quite the roller coaster. And I don’t think it’s unwarranted. This has been different until the last quarter of last week’s game against the Colts.

The Chiefs snapped out of the funk and responded in tremendous fashion, beating the Indianapolis Colts to go back above .500 and keep their playoff hopes alive. It seemed as though the Chiefs weren’t going to be able to overcome a deficit in a third straight crucial loss. Three weeks ago, the Chiefs were all but eliminated from contention for the one seed in Buffalo. Last week, the Chiefs faced what seemed like an elimination game in the AFC West against the Denver Broncos.

Seemingly.

That’s at least how I felt until I looked at the remaining schedules for the rest of the league. This is just one man’s prediction, but I looked at how I think the rest of the season will go, and how that shapes the AFC playoff race. The outlook may not be as bleak as it feels, but I think Thursday’s matchup against the Dallas Cowboys is crucial.

You can see my full predictions for the rest of the season here. I went off logic with a little bit of gut to get to where I landed for every team in the league.

Week 13 — Chiefs beat the Cowboys 35-24

If this doesn’t happen, I don’t think any of the pursuit of the division matters. This is the last difficult road game the Chiefs have for the remainder of the season. The rest of their big tests are at Arrowhead, where the Chiefs have been better so far this season.

I think the Chiefs pull out the victory on Thanksgiving, and the pressure is back on the Broncos.
