Throughout the offseason, we’ve been covering Andy Heck’s offensive line preferences here at KC Sports Network. The majority of what’s been covered thus far has related to positioning of the offensive linemen. Whether that be the construction of the pocket, creep sets, or some of the various “common” sets he likes to implement, the focus has been on how to get the offensive line in the best position possible to stop the defender.

While being in the correct relative position for the pass play being called is absolutely imperative, that positioning only goes so far. The ability to deliver a strike to dislodge the defender and keep him from the quarterback is just as important as being “in the way” of the rush path. That’s why today’s article will focus on the other half of the equation for Heck’s – and anyone’s – offensive line: striking.
