Ravens BACK OUT of Maxx Crosby Trade, Chiefs Stay Quiet on Day 2
The latest free agency news from KCSN's Tucker Franklin
Day 2 of the 2026 NFL free agency period was defined by a stunning reversal of what would have been one of the biggest trades in recent history.
The Las Vegas Raiders announced Tuesday evening that the Baltimore Ravens backed out of their agreement to acquire All-Pro edge rusher Maxx Crosby.
The deal, which reportedly involved the Ravens sending 2026 and 2027 first-round picks to Las Vegas, collapsed after Crosby reportedly failed his physical in Baltimore. Crosby, who underwent meniscus surgery in January, was the centerpiece of the Ravens’ plan to fix a pass rush that ranked near the bottom of the league last season.
Now, the Raiders must pivot back to the drawing board with a disgruntled star, while Baltimore enters Day 3 with a massive void on the edge.
Beyond the Crosby bombshell, the day saw significant movement across the league:
Running Back Carousel: The Kansas City Chiefs made a splash by signing former Seahawks Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, while the Detroit Lions replaced David Montgomery with former Chief Isiah Pacheco.
Patriots Land a Target: New England secured WR Romeo Doubs on a four-year, $70 million deal to bolster their passing attack.
Quarterback Shuffle: The New York Jets reunited with Geno Smith in a trade with the Raiders, while the Atlanta Falcons signed Tua Tagovailoa to a one-year “prove-it” deal.
