Spreadsheet Warriors: Jaguars
What started so beautiful ended so tragic. Will this be the story of the Chiefs 2025 season?
Some days, I really enjoy writing about the Chiefs for KCSN. Other days, it really sucks. For the first half of this game, I thought it was going to be a joy and a pleasure to write this article. Then the second half—and especially the fourth quarter—came, and it turned into my nightmare.
The Chiefs lost an incredibly winnable game to the Jaguars. Mahomes threw a pick-six. Butker kicked the ball out of bounds on the Jags’ final series, giving them a short field to drive for a touchdown. The Chiefs were called for 13 penalties and 109 yards. The defense absolutely could not tackle Trevor Lawrence in the backfield, no matter how many times they were right there. The offense had multiple three-and-outs.
Everything was working in the first half. The Chiefs' offense looked like a well-oiled machine, and the only thing that stopped them was small mistakes, easily overlooked. They went into halftime up 14-7, and could easily have been up 21-7 instead. Of course, the defense got a fumble off of Trevor Lawrence right on the goal line, so it also could easily have been 14-14. The Chiefs dominated the first half, but failed to put away their opponent. Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
