At the beginning of this season, the Kansas City Chiefs defense was getting a ton of press as being one of the worst defenses… of all time.

The defense was performing so poorly that it became a very popular narrative to try and explain the Chiefs’ offensive woes. The thought process was the Chiefs defense was playing so bad that the offense had to try to score every single play to keep up. Then week six hit and everything changed.

Since week six, the Chiefs’ defense has been excellent — as Craig has been telling you all about for a few weeks now — and pinpointing a single reason for it is impossible. Players on all levels of the defense have started playing better, the scheme has improved, and the team has gotten healthier to name a few.

It’s been a sum of the parts kind of turnaround for the defense but one player, in particular, has started to make his impact a little more often these last few weeks.
