A look at the last drive that sealed a win, and sparked energy from the Chiefs offense
This year has been...a lot...offensively to say the least. The unit has looked like a disjointed mess for the majority of the 2021 season. Things aren’t clicking with the same kind of rhythm we’ve grown accustomed to.
We probably took for granted the time it would take for the offensive line to gel — and for the quarterback, they’re protecting to grow a level of comfort. Things aren’t going great — it’s the most lumbering offense we’ve seen in a while.
The confidence hasn’t always seemed to be there from the trigger man — Patrick Mahomes. It doesn’t appear like he’s trusted his eyes the same way he has in the past, and doesn’t seem all that confident in the play calling.
The offense was shut out of the end zone after the first drive of the game — and shut period for the entirety of the second half. The defense did their job on Sunday — delaying any score whatsoever from the Packers until late in the fourth quarter to make it a 13-7 game.
An anemic offense needed a response with 4:54 remaining in the game. A few first downs could seal the game to put the Chiefs back over .500 for the first time since week one.
We’ve spent the entire season focusing on the early script of Andy Reid’s play calling as he gathers intel and sets the course for the remainder of the game. This week, we’re literally flipping the script to focus on the final drive of the Chiefs’ win over the Green Bay Packers. We’ll call it the Final 15 (...or...nine).
