The Royals STRAND Double Digit Baserunners in Loss to the A's
Joel Penfield and Nick Springer react to the final game of the series against the Athletics for the Kansas City Royals.
The Kansas City Royals fell 6-3 to the Athletics on Thursday afternoon at Sutter Health Park, dropping the series two games to one.
A four-run second inning proved to be the difference, highlighted by Nick Kurtz’s two-run double off Royals starter Noah Cameron (2-2). Kurtz also drew a walk for the 19th consecutive game, tying a historic mark held by Ted Williams.
The Royals’ offense struggled despite three-hit performances from Maikel Garcia and Starling Marte. Garcia launched a solo home run, and Elias Diaz added his first homer of the season, but Kansas City left significant traffic on the basepaths. Vinnie Pasquantino, returning from back tightness, flew out as a pinch-hitter to end the game.
Noah Cameron took the loss after laboring through 5.1 innings, while Luis Medina earned the win for the A’s bullpen. The Royals now look to snap their two-game skid as they head to Seattle for the weekend.
