The silver lining from the Broncos' loss: Josh Simmons' return
Josh Simmons was excellent in his return to the Chiefs and provides a bright spot in a rather gloomy game.
The Kansas City Chiefs fell to the Denver Broncos after their bye week, setting up a ton of uncertainty for their future this season. This marks the fifth loss in six tries the Chiefs have had this year against opponents with winning records, and has put them at an extreme risk of missing the playoffs. Not the typical situation we as Chiefs’ fans have found ourselves in over the midway through November in recent years.
That being said, rather than continuing to dwell in the anguish of the Chiefs’ situation, let’s try to find a silver lining from this past week’s game. There has been plenty of talk about what is wrong, where they go from here, what needs to change, etc, but let’s talk about something that went right for the Chiefs in this one that could have a huge impact the rest of the way.
That bright spot this week came in the return of the Chiefs’ first-round draft pick, Josh Simmons. Simmons had missed the previous five games due to a personal, family issue, but was now back with the team and immediately took back over his starting left tackle job. Jaylon Moore had played well in his place, but the bill was coming due, so it was nice to see Simmons return and pick up right where he left off.
