What has Patrick Mahomes learned from prior Super Bowls? | KCSN Daily 2.8
Plus first injury report, KCSN podcasts, quotes and more Chiefs news
Welcome back to the newest issue of KCSN Daily, where we deliver the best Kansas City Chiefs content to your inbox.
The Chiefs have nearly 25 players on the 53-man roster with Super Bowl experience. Patrick Mahomes is one of the several players to have played in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LV. Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, the Chiefs’ star quarterback weighed in on what he’d learned from previous Super Bowl experiences.
“I think you have a better understanding of the whole process,” Mahomes said. “You can find those little windows where you can get a little film study in (and) a little extra rest. Especially the first Super Bowl when I was in Miami it was like, ‘You’ve got to go here. You’ve got to go here.’ And you were trying to figure out a way to get it all done. Now, I have a better understanding of the process and the schedule.”
Now, in his third Super Bowl appearance Mahomes sort of thrives in the chaos that is the week leading up to the big game. He’s also learned about who he can rely on to get a jump start on the week ahead of Super Bowl LVII.
“And I had (Chiefs PR head) Ted (Crews) and them send me the schedule like a week early so I could like plan it out and have a good plan for what I was going to go about my week doing,” Mahomes said.

KCSN’s BJ Kissel sits down with Fran Duffy from Eagles.com to talk about the Kansas City Chiefs matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII.
Quotable:
“He’s definitely a vocal guy. He’s one of the main leaders in this locker room. He’s one of the core guys that has been here for longer than I have been here. The whole entire run of Coach Reid’s career with the Kansas City Chiefs. I think he can be vocal because he’s the hardest-working guy in the locker room as well. He’s in the building. He’s working his tail off. He’s finishing every route. He’s working on his blocking. There are times when he’s not in it that he’s walking to the side and working on routes by himself. Whenever you have a guy that’s one of the hardest working people (who is also) one of the greatest players of all time, then he can be that vocal leader and everybody responds because you know he’s doing it the right way.” - Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes on Travis Kelce
“(Lucas) Niang was kind of the young kid that was coming up and got hurt. Andrew (Wylie), first of all, stuck around with us when he had opportunities to potentially go somewhere else. Stayed with us and it worked out great for him, and he’s back in that starting role. He’s done a nice job for us this season. He’s really a tough kid. Not everything is pretty, but it doesn’t have to be. I mean, he’s going to fight ya and that’s important. And he does well with that.” - Chiefs HC Andy Reid on Andrew Wylie
