What would a win on Sunday do for Patrick Mahomes legacy?
Per usual at the Annual Arrowhead Invitational, there is a lot on the line Sunday night. This one has a little extra cache though. Here's what's at stake and a message to you, Chiefs Kingdom.
It is easy to get caught up in the moment when it comes to the greatness of this Kansas City Chiefs dynasty and Patrick Mahomes, and that is what you should be doing. There will be a time, hopefully around 2040 or so when we can sit back, relax and watch his highlight reel that will be unlike anyone ever inducted into the Hall of Fame before him.
He will be in Canton, Ohio wearing a gold jacket sitting next to an 80-something-year-old Andy Reid, Travis Kelce, Chris Jones, Tyreek Hill, possibly Joe Thuney, Creed Humphrey, Harrison Butker, Tyrann Mathieu or even Brett Veach or Steve Spagnuolo, who will have been fitted for theirs years prior. We will be in our living rooms soaking it up, reliving the glory days of Chiefs football.
For now, though, it is best to live in the moment, soaking it in week by week and game by game. That is the only true way to enjoy it and not take it for granted. He is only 29 after all, but a win on Sunday against Peyton Manning to his Tom Brady would further cement his greatness. Yes, there would still be one game to go against the Philadelphia Eagles or the Washington Commanders to complete the mission, but he would be mowing over the toughest obstacle in his path.
