When the Numbers Don’t Matter
The Chiefs’ worst game of the year doesn't need advanced stats to prove it.
That was an ugly game. That was an awful experience to watch, especially after the past several weeks of the season. I just want to be up front here: I have nothing positive to say about that game. If you’re looking for a reason to be optimistic, you will probably need to look elsewhere this week. That game was so bad that I turned it off after the 3-and-out to start the second half.
Watching Bills-Chiefs games in the regular season is just so bad for my mental health. It makes me irrationally angry to see the team play so irrationally bad, and these games are important enough for tiebreakers and such that I struggle to contain that frustration. I’ve worked hard not to be the sort of person who rages at football games. I don’t want to be that person. I don’t want my kids to see that person. I turned it off, and my wife and I watched Wicked in preparation for the sequel coming out later this month.

Anyway, you didn’t come here for my review of Wicked (it’s good, though!). You came here to read about the game. Well, here’s my one and only reason to be able to pitch this game in the fiery dumpster and move on emotionally: The Bills are basically a division rival at this point. Over the past five years, the Chiefs and Bills have played each other nine times. We have played each of our divisional rivals 10 times in that same period.
