The NFL Draft is more fun when you actually like the selections your team makes. Round-by-round, the Chiefs continued to not disappoint.

GM Brett Veach and company were cooking this past weekend as they looked to address needs both for 2024 and beyond. They navigated the board wonderfully, knocking out key positions of need early in wide receiver and tackle, and rounding out the rest of the roster with players that could earn spots on the 53 man roster and contribute.

It started on Thursday night with Texas wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

Worthy is a player the KC Laboratory team has been on as a Chiefs fit early in the process. Before the NFL Combine in our first mock draft exercise, we gave him to the Chiefs at pick 32. Once he set the record for the fastest 40-yard dash at the Combine, it felt like that might have ruined any chance of him being available to them with the last pick in the first round.

We’ll never know for sure, but the Chiefs didn’t think he’d be falling to them, so they moved up to ensure they grabbed a player they have a plan for.
