Rashee Rice's ex-girlfriend files lawsuit alleging domestic abuse against Chiefs WR
Allegations of abuse originally surfaced in early January
Rashee Rice’s ex-girlfriend has taken legal action against the Chiefs wide receiver.
Dacoda Jones filed a civil lawsuit on Feb. 16, 2026, in Dallas County, Texas, alleging Rice committed acts over an almost two-year span of “intentionally, knowingly and recklessly” attacking her to cause “bleeding, swelling, bruising and other pain and physical injury to her neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest, and shoulder,” according to the six-page court document.
The lawsuit, which can be viewed in its entirety here, alleges the physical abuse occurred at their places of residence in Victory Park, Texas and Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Jones seeks monetary relief in the amount of $1 million, according to the court document.
TMZ first reported the lawsuit.
Jones, who shares two children with Rice, first posted allegations of domestic abuse on Jan. 8, 2026, on her Instagram account.
She did not specially name Rice in her post, which included a series of photos displaying what appeared to be bruises to Jones’ body, including facial injuries.
The post quickly went viral across multiple social media channels, including Instagram and X, among others, before it was taken down.
“I’m so tired of keeping quiet I’m so tired of protecting his image,” Jones wrote at the beginning of the since-deleted Instagram post. “I’ve been through too much in a span of 8 years and I’ve had ENOUGH! I’ve dealt with abuse for years, me and this man decided to break up a couple months ago and since then it’s been nothing but hell.”
Wednesday afternoon, the Kansas City Chiefs released the following statement to KC Sports Network regarding the matter: “The club is aware and remains in communication with the National Football League.”
Rice, the Chiefs’ second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract.
He finished the 2025 season appearing in eight games, totaling 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns. He added 20 yards rushing and a touchdown on five carries.
