Kansas City (45-48) is now riding a three-game win streak and are winners of six of their last eight ballgames. They took the first two from the Pittsburgh Pirates (38-55), with the offense breaking out to 13 runs scored in those two. Newly named 2025 all-star Kris Bubic takes the mound tonight as the Royals gear up for a sweep.

Despite closer Carlos Estevez ranking second in the league in saves and posting a 2.13 ERA, he was left off the initial all-star roster. Third basemen Maikel Garcia, owner of the sixth-best batting average in the American League, to go along with an .832 OPS, was also snubbed.
On the brighter side, Kansas City is coming off a series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks (45-46) after splitting a four-game series with the Seattle Mariners (48-42). The Royals (44-48) are now second in the AL Central standings and five games out of a wild card spot after also winning their first of three against the Pittsburgh Pirates (38-54).
